Position: Accountant/Finance Manager
Department: Finance and Administration Job Summary: The Accountant/Finance Manager will oversee and manage GICTA’s accounting and financial operations from maintain accurate records, providing financial reports to complying with the Agency’s and The Gambia Government accounting and financial management processes. Duties and Responsibilities:- Regularly update accounting records and budgets.
- Produce financial statements and reports as required and adhere to any government regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of an annual budget, monitor its implementation, and adjust as required.
- Provide recommendations to optimize budget performance as necessary.
- Prepare financial projections to support long-term planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with The Gambia Government Accounting and Financial Management Guidelines.
- Prepare and submit tax reports.
- Coordinate and assist in financial audit process.
- Provide cash management solutions which support the efficient operation of the Agency.
- Ensure timely disbursement of funds and collections.
- Oversee payroll processing to ensure accurate payment of salaries and benefits.
- Manage vendor and supplier payments efficiently.
- Any other official duty assigned by senior staff.
- A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field with at least five (5) years post-qualification accounting or finance experience OR
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field with at least eight (8) years post-qualification accounting or finance experience OR
- A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial or Management Accountant (ACCA or CIMA) or similar with at least five (5) years post-qualification accounting or finance experience.
- Familiarity of government tax, procurement, and audit processes such as GPPA, NAO and GRA.
- Knowledge of the ICT sector is an advantage.
- Prior experience in a managerial or supervisory role is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and tax regulations.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Proficiency in Spreadsheets, Financial or Accounting applications, and ERP systems (preferably IFMIS) will be an added advantage.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Aptitude to work independently and as part of a team.
